Our Story of Handmade Soap
Updated: Mar 1
Naturally Pure Botanicals started from a wish to reduce the plastic bottles of shampoo and liquid soap dotted around the bathroom. I was going to manufacture my own soap and then I'd know everything that went in it. No nasty chemicals and cruelty free with no ingredient being tested on animals.
I had made soap quite a few years ago and was always "getting round to it" but working full time never got the time. I decided I would make handmade soap with pure oils and natural ingredients. This included pure essential oils and I would not use palm oil.
Palm oil was off the ingredient list due to 'unsustainable palm oil production being the large-scale devastation of tropical forests; As well as widespread habitat loss for its native species.
Synthetic colours were ruled out and only botanicals such as herbs, spices and natural minerals are used.
The fragrance was to be natural so I would only use essential oils.
My whole ethos is to have control over my soaps and for that reason I use the ancient method of cold process. I can pay attention to every ingredient; From start to finish everything is handcrafted, hand-cut and hand-wrapped making each individual bar special; no two bars are the same.
The labels and packaging is environmentally friendly and recyclable. No single-use plastic is used at any stage of production and you can recycle the packaging your soap is wrapped in.
Naturally Pure Botanicals is committed to protecting your skin and keeping the planet green at the same time! All our soaps are free from palm oil, parabens and sulphates. 8 out of the 9 are suitable for vegans and they are all cruelty free. All the soaps are handmade in Scotland using local ingredients when possible. Next year we will be growing many of the herbs used within the soaps ourselves and growing them organically. In the 32 years we've lived here no chemicals of any type are used on our land.
Our soap is of the highest quality and is produced in the most sustainable manner possible to respect the environment.
